What is PAN card?

PAN card or Permanent Account Number is one of the most crucial and important documents for every citizen of India. It can not only used for incometax purposes but also as an identity proof. The card includes a unique ten-digit alphanumeric identification and is issued in a form of a laminated smart card, under the Indian IncomeTax Department of India. You can give application for the PAN Card in both online and offline methods. Here's how you'll apply online for PAN card.

What are the uses of PAN card?

Steps to apply for PAN Card online:

Step 1: Go to the official website of NSDL i.e. (NSDL) or (UTIITSL)

Step 2: A window will open, under Application Type select New Pan- Indian Citizen (Form 49A). If you're a far off national then select New PAN -Foreign Citizen(49AA)

Step 3: Select the category of PAN card you would like .

Step 4: Fill in your details like name, date of birth, mobile number, etc

Step 5: Enter the captcha code and click on on submit

Step 6: After clicking the submit button, a token number are going to be generated. You will be required to click on the link to continue together with your PAN application

Step 7: a replacement page will appear and it'll show you three options: 1. Submit online through e-KYC and e- Sign (paperless) 2. Submit scanned image through e-Sign 3. Forward application documents physically.

Step 8: the foremost common and preferred is scanned image through e-sign.

Step 9: After selecting the option, enter your details such as Adhaar Card number, parents name, bank details etc. click next.

Step 10: At this step you will require to fill in your name, date of birth, address etc. After filling all the details click Next.

Step 11: within the next step, you'll be required to enter your code , AO (assessing officer) type, range code, and AO number. Click next.

Step 12: Select the documents you've got submitted as proof aged and residence from the menu , fill within the required detail then click submit.

Step 13: Once your documents are uploaded you will be directed to the payment page, you can choose one of the many online payment options. The charges for applying for PAN is Rs. 93 (GST additional as actual) for Indian communication address and Rs. 864 (GST additional as actual)for foreign communication address. , if any. If you have chosen to send the physical documents instead of opting for e-KYC or e-Sign, then you will have to make a payment of Rs.93(GST additional as actual) .

Step 14: After making the payment, you'll be required to travel through the Aadhaar authentication process, or submit documents via e-sign or to physically send the documents to NSDL or UTIITSL. You will also receive an email acknowledgment from NSDL site or UTIITSL about your application.

Step 15: You will get digital PAN Card on your mail and Your Pan Card will be couriered to you once the application has been processed. It may take 30 days to arrive. Keep the acknowledgment number with you.
